With every dog is a story...my husband and I had been dating for a year and he really wanted to get a full breed Rott. I was hesitant because I did not want him to eat our first born child (when we had one) or any guests that came to visit. I had never had my very own dog, I had been raised with dogs that my mother had always made sure I helped with but as most of us know, when they become our full responsiblibty as an adult, a diferent attachment occurs. So, we go look at puppies, pick out a...

LETTER FROM HEAVEN
Hi, my name is Skye and if you are getting this letter, you probably knew me or knew of me in some way during my twelve years on earth. You may be one of the people I want to thank since you helped me medically as a vet or groomed me or just told me what a wonderful dog I was.
I was dropped off as a little pup at U-Bathe-M-Dog Wash in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. The people that put my two brothers, one sister, and me in a box also put a $10 roll of...

This is dedicated to my Ally with a very special thanks to Marty Harbin.
I adopted Ally in 2002 when Paws and Prayers was not well known. Marty fostered Ally and fell in love with her but gave her to me to take home. Marty said, "If she doesn't work out, just bring her back. She is a love bug."
The first day I had her Ally wanted to go back to Marty because she ran away from my house!!! I was frantic and called Marty; she came up to Bedford from Akron to help us...

We adopted Bruiser 4 years ago. He was a very loyal dog and a good friend. I will always remember the way that he would run to me and jump up to be held. He went to the Rainbow Bridge on March 3 2011. He is running and playing with the other dogs and someday he will be able to run to me again.

Arthur came to me from the Wayne County Humane Society. He was 10 years old, partially blind, couldn't hear very will and he had 2 abcesses in his mouth along with heartworms. I decided I wanted to foster Arthur to give him the feeling of love and a nice home for his remaining time. Arthur was one of the sweetest dogs I've ever met. He was really friendly, didn't mind other dogs playing with him even though he couldn't play much and he just wanted to snuggle and be loved. I made the decision ...

As a foster, you know that every dog is special and they each claim a piece of your heart. But sometimes you have a foster dog that you just immediately connect with, one you know was sent specifically to you for a reason and is more than just special. Iggy Stardust was that dog.
I had just laid to rest my best friend of over 15 years. I missed her so much. I couldn’t even walk on the Towpath Trail, because that was our special thing to do together. I missed the company of a d...

We met Zoey at Petsmart. When Prayers for Paws was there. Zoey lost her leg from getting hit by a car. She was a senior dog and beautiful Husky-shepherd mix. My husband was holding her leash and she gave a big kiss to him and my sons.Paws for prayers are so wonderful. Great organization. Marty was her foster mom and she was so wonderful. We enjoyed Zoey for close to 5 years. She was our princess!!! Many of you might had seen her walking into Petsmart. She adored the beauty shop and no other coul...

Our little Nico was only with us for a short time, but she made a big impact on our family. She had so much personality for such a tiny thing. She though she was the biggest, baddest dog on the block. She rightfully earned her nick name of Sneako by waiting until just the right moment to zip past you and out the door. She was full of life and love for everyone. I will miss her climbing into my lap, waking me with her kisses, and watching her bunny hop when she would play with her sister.

My husband John and I were walking through pets mart to get our kitty new treats when he spotted a puppy with a cone on his head. John wanted to go look at the puppy and immediately fell in love with one eyed Haymitch. We adopted the little guy and gave him a new home. We found out he had a ton of medical issues and after three weeks of loving him, he was not going to make it.
Haymitch was the best thing that ever happened to us. We had no plans on adopting animals, but he showed...

Cookie was purchased from Petco in October 2004 and she was our new pet after Bo Kitty died in 2003. She was the replacement pet. I usually brought cookie to school during my elementary years. In June 2012 cookie passed away from some uncertain disease. She lived with us for eight years which could have been 100 years in tortoise years. She will be greatly missed.

FREEDOM SPEAKS
When you see the title, “Freedom Speaks”, you might wonder why I am putting it this way as he was the quietest of quiet dogs. He hardly ever barked, never wanted to be a bother, and was a sweetheart. Freedom was about 10 months old when the foster mom from a local rescue group brought him to our house.
I had asked to see about four dogs that weekend to replace Bandit who had died in April of 1996 and I was so unsure, as I really didn&rsq...

I spotted Teddy in a Pet Store in Richmond VA on 4/22/94, and so began his new life as "King of the House". From day one Teddy was a handful. At 6 weeks old Teddy was bold, proud, confident, fearless and highly curious and playful. Teddy had to be watched carefully cause he was always trying to find a way to escape into the BIG world! Teddy would chew off his harness and run like the wind. In 2001 Teddy moved to Ohio to be with me after staying behind in VA a year with another family member. ...

Gizmo was found by a PARTA driver in the middle of the road. I was dropping off my husband at work (he's a driver for PARTA) when I heard about the little guy. I took him home in hopes that I could find him a loving home or take him to a non-euthanasia shelter. The shelter was full and no one at work could take him, so we brought him home. We took him to the vet who said he was suprisingly healthy for sucha small and undernourished kitten. He was approx. 5 weeks old.
He wea...

After losing our last dog, I'd thought I'd try and wait a year for another bunch of mutts..well, that thought lasted about a month. I started looking at adoption sites and found Banjo at Paws thru the Collie rescue here in NE ohio. Described as 40lbs and looking cute, we went thru the adoption procedure and got to meet banjo..a 70lb ball of fur who loved belly rubs! After getting over his size we took him home to meet the cats, and the war was on! We had to stop him from trying to eat our Persia...

BRONTE’S SONG
Bronte was named after the Bronte sisters, three strong women who were much ahead of their time: Anne, Charlotte and Emily, kind of called her ACE sometimes, but Bronte really stuck. She was found at a grade school in Cuyahoga Falls in the dead of winter during a snow storm. Someone hoped one of the school children would take her home. She was a little girl, only about 35 pounds full grown, part beagle, part sheltie and some aussie) with long curly brown/blac...

H-E- double N-E-SSY spells Hennessy
Let me tell you about Hennessy. A couple bought him from a barn where they took puppies to sell in 2001. When he got sick they took him back and the people at the barn told them they would have to take another puppy and they would put him down. Well they brought him to me as they could not afford to take him to a vet and he got well and he was going to be adopted, but Henny had this nervous nature and barked when he was scared and he went out twice a...
